Biocompatibility testing is a non-invasive and pain-free way to assess what effect dental materials are likely to have on your body. It helps us select the materials to use that will challenge your immune system the least. It stands to reason that you want to utilize materials that are more compatible with your own unique body characteristics, and to avoid materials that are harmful or reactive for you.
Biocompatibility testing is generally performed through:
- Blood serum testing (Materials Reactivity Testing), which is performed by a lab through a simple blood draw
- Muscle testing (Applied Kinesiology)
- Electrodermal screening (EAV).
Materials Reactivity Testing is a screening done in a lab that helps us to detect any sensitivity patients might have to various chemicals and dental materials. This kind of test is performed on clients who have a history of chemical sensitivity. Using this test, we are able to determine your sensitivity levels to over 2,000 different dental substances.
Muscle testing may be used to identify what dental concerns may be present. It is based upon muscle activity and their strength to overall health. Using these methods, we are able to scan your jaw, joints, muscles, and teeth to find any weaknesses in the indicator muscle that might signify an oral concern. It can also be used to determine your body’s biocompatibility with dental materials. We use the body’s own biofeedback mechanism to identify those items that can weaken that individual. This way, we are able to avoid any materials your body tests weak to and focus on using the ones your body is strong towards. Muscle testing is used as part of a comprehensive dental examination to help give us a bigger picture of your overall health and wellness.
Electrodermal screening (EAV) is a non invasive procedure using a machine that tests which dental materials and various other substances are optimal according to the patient’s own acupuncture meridian system.. We can therefore determine what are the best materials to use and which ones to avoid in the future.
